In 2008, funding from the Safeway Foundation helped us to provide the following direct services to Latino and Low Income families, children and individuals:
Individuals served through two food banks in 2008: 647
Healthy meals for children at Colonia Libertad Housing Community: 243
Our main site is located at Colonia Libertad, a low income agricultural worker housing community in South East Salem, developed and managed by the Farmworker Housing Development Corporation. In 2008, we were successful in providing healthy meals to children participating in After School and summer educational programs at Colonia Libertad. Some of the children participating in these programs came from families where food is scarce, as the average income for families at this housing community is approximately $20,000 year; the meals received in these programs were eagerly received and helped to instill healthy habits in these future generations.
On behalf of the clients, staff, volunteers and Board of Directors of Mano a Mano Family Center, we thank the Safeway Foundation for their support and look forward to a continued partnership in years to come.
Sincerely,
Levi Herrera-Lopez, Executive Director
